Description

Rural cancer control is one of the National Cancer Institute (NCI) Division of Cancer Control & Population Sciences' research emphasis areas. The Rural and Minority Health Research Center served as a facilitator for cancer-related meetings by Federal Office of Rural Health Policy-funded Rural Health Research Centers. With guidance from NCI staff, a schedule of important cancer research meetings was provided to the Research Centers. Attendance was promoted by providing travel reimbursements. The goal was to promote collaboration between established cancer researchers and rural health experts. Sixty percent of Rural Health Research Centers attended at least one cancer-related meeting during 2018-2019.
