• Characterizing the Current Landscape of Freestanding Emergency Departments in Rural Areas
  This descriptive study will combine a 50-state legal scan with national facility mapping to describe where freestanding emergency departments operate, how they are defined, and whether their locations suggest they are expanding emergency access in rural communities or overlapping with existing rural emergency care infrastructure.

• Rural Health Clinic Ownership, Structure, and Operational Factors: A Mixed Methods Study
  Rural Health Clinics (RHCs) provide essential services to rural populations that often lack access to health care. This mixed methods study will describe RHC ownership types and changes, staffing, and utilization across the U.S., supplemented by qualitative interviews describing experiences among RHCs with different ownership types and structures.
