May 2005

This project will develop home healthcare service areas that will allow for the measurement of access to home health care for rural Medicare beneficiaries who die of cancer, and recommend options for increasing access to home healthcare in underserved rural areas. Additionally, the project will map and estimate the proportion of the population served by home healthcare agencies providing limited availability to such treatments, and recommend options for improving access to these symptom management options for patients with cancer. Final products will include a map of home health service areas and a report analyzing the home health and hospice service areas.
