Rural-Urban Differences in Hospital Payer Mix in 2017
Despite decreasing trends in the share of Medicare inpatient days across nationwide hospitals, little is known regarding variations in payer mix by hospital rurality and Center for Medicare and Medicaid services payment designation. This work revealed that rural hospitals heavily rely on Medicare.
